Car # 21 - 2000 silver Audi A6
OK, so an Audi A6 isn’t a turd mobile. In fact it is quite luxorious, fast and German…which says it all. My wife chose the A6 in silver (black leather interior) which I sort of think looks best on German cars. The A6 was super fast and very luxurious. It even had this thing where it would announce after you have driven for two hours to get out and stretch!
Here is the unfortunate thing regarding our Audi. We were living back on the island, we had Dougie who was only two and Marcelle was very pregnant. We had been getting slammed for the past week with a non-moving tropical depression. Everyday we were getting inches of rain with high winds and living on an island surrounded by water…where was the water to go? Part of the island had flooded and Marcelle was out running errands with Dougie. The police had redirected traffic to some streets that were not as bad as the main streets but still had at least two feet of water on them. A huge, built up Ford pick-up was driving the opposite direction very fast and this caused a pretty high wake. This wake literally picked up the Audi and swept it into a ditch filled with water leaving the front half of the Audi under water!
They had to tow the Audi in to look it over and in the end over $20,000 was spent in repairs and it still never performed properly. The good thing is we were leasing it so we knew when we turned it in we were not going to be upside down since the insurance company refused to total it. The sad thing is that both Audi and our insurance company agreed that due to all the problems it had from the water damage and the amount of repairs it still required that the vehicle should have been totalled however because of some f’d up rule the car was going to be thrown back onto the lot for some unwarry person to purchase it.
