Car #4 - 1988 blue Chevrolet Beretta GFX
My mom was so happy that I managed to graduate from high school AND excepted to community college (I filled out a one page application and verified I was alive) that she offered to buy me a new car. A mistake on many levels. I was going to get a Ford Bronco II but for some reason I chose this car. We visited the local Chevrolet dealership because I think I was interested in a truck but upon seeing this car on display I just had to have it. This became a first of many, many, many spontaneous “God-I-Need-This-Now!-Oh-Man!-What-Was-I-Thinking?” purchases in my life.
It was blue like the one in the picture however Chevrolet had made five “suped-up” versions of the Beretta and called it the GFX. They made one in red, white, black, yellow and blue. The red, white and black were already purchased and yellow wasn’t my favorite color so I chose the blue one. Basically it had a turbo charger on the V6 engine, 18” wheels and ground effects. Having never really liked this car I owned it roughly half as long as it is taking me to write this post and traded the Beretta in for a 1988 black Toyota 4X4 pick up.
