Our Stimulus Package
My wife (aka The Love Of My Life!) has mentioned to me several times that we tend to spend a bit too much on beer and going out. I love the high gravity beers and they are by no means inexpensive. Going out adds up too when you take into consideration not only dinner and drinks but maybe also a show, drinks after and then there is the babysitter. Let’s not forget the taxi home so as to not drink and drive.
So, let’s break this down. I will take an average weekend…though we really only go out-out twice a month on a date requiring a babysitter.
Every Friday I like to go to a specialty beer and wine store and stock up on a few of my favorite beers and maybe buy a couple I have never tried before. I usually spend (oh god…I know she is reading this) let’s say…$50.
On Saturday we will go to dinner and spend anywhere from $100 to $200. Then if we go for drinks after let’s add another $50. If we take the taxi home that will cost about $25. Now by the time I get home (2amish) I am pretty lit and even when I am sober I find it hard to calculate numbers. The babysitter generally wins out in this scenario because I will usually just pay her $100…sometimes more.
Let’s total this all up!
Every Friday Beer Purchased: $50 X 50 weeks = $2500
Dinners out every other weekend: $150 X 25 weeks = $3750
Drinks out after dinner: $50 X 25 = $1250
Taxi home: $25 x 25 = $625
Babysitter every other weekend: $100 X 25 = $2500
Total = $10,625.00
I believe we are doing more than our fair share of helping stimulate the economy!
